A Message by Dr. Green on the occasion of a Mortgage Burning.
If you need a text for this short address, you can find it in Proverbs 24:27:
Finish your outdoor work
and get your fields ready;
after that, build your house.
This is a very practical, and very wise approach to life.

Worth Green, Th.M., D.Min.
9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. 17 This I command you, to love one another. John 15:9-17
There are two great Essays on Friendship.

Laurel Ridge Moravian Camp needs tools! Since many of the camp’s tools have seen better days, they are in need of tools in good condition for this year’s Mission Camps. These tools will also be used by staff and volunteers for other projects at Laurel Ridge. The types of tools needed include (but are not limited to) hammers, cordless drills, chop saws, clippers, and skill saws.
If you can donate any tools, please bring them to the church office. Thank you for your help!
The Elders here at New Philadelphia have just made a twelve month commitment to Bethesda Center for the Homeless. The 3rd Thursday of each month one of our elders or a member of our staff will be taking a team of 3 or 4 people to the Center to celebrate the Three D’s—Desert, Devotion, and Dialogue. We take a desert, usually Krispy-Kreme Donuts. We share a devotion. We engage in a dialogue in which residents spell out prayer requests. We pray. This sounds simple, and it is, but the rewards are amazing. On one recent visit, a resident of the center said, “It takes a strong person to be homeless.” That comment raised everyone’s awareness, and touched everyone’s heart.
Are you interested in helping? In the near future a sign-up Sheet will be posted in the Commons Area. Please pray for us as we begin this undertaking, and please consider participating. We are the third church in the area to commit to hosting the 3 D’s one night each month. By the way, we were pleased to learn that our Missions and Social Concerns Committee recently approved a $250.00 gift to the Center. I am sure there will be other opportunities to contribute and we will let you know about them. To learn more about the Bethesda Center and its mission on behalf of the chronically homeless, please visit www.bethesdacenter.org. Thanks! Pastor Green
