New Philadelphia Celebrated Memorial Day with a program an Ice Cream Social at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. More than 250 members and friends joined us for a celebration of our nations servants and heroes. We also recognized the accomplishments of our “New Philadelphia Construction Crew.” Not only did the NPCC put a new roof on the Youth Building/Pavilion in 48 hours using more than 50 volunteers, they raised more than $7,000.00 dollars for the Brian Huffman. A highlight of the day was the musical program. The Band played a number of marches and patriotic melodies, including all our service hymns, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. The choir led us in a selection of hymns, and, of course, our National Anthem. Several members spoke, and one of our number, an American by Choice who lived survived the 2nd World War in Germany as a child moved us to tears (and applause) with her compelling story. May God bless America, and especially those members of our Armed Forces serving on Active Duty this Memorial Day. Keep them in your prayers! And may God move us to Peace in our time. How joyful it is when brothers and sisters—and nations unite in harmony! Allies are always better than enemies! Finally, a big “Tip of the Hat” goes out to the Church Family Life Committee for all the hard work they put into this wonderful event.
