Band rounds - a joyful time!

Band rounds on Sunday afternoon, November 23, 2008. Starting at the Elms where our former flute player Clarence now lives; then to South Fork Retirement Center, home to band members mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law; next to Kelly and Donna, giving Kelly chance to direct us again; concluding at the Livingood’s - a joyful day! Holiday Band Schedule
The New Philadelphia events are in Bold. We have added in italics playing opportunities hosted by other churches or directors which we are invited to play. As additional events come available, we’ll send e-mail. When we figure again out to post the church website, we’ll also add the schedule there.
Reminders: Sunday morning preludes for the 1st service begin at 8:30 am; (when on the schedule 2nd service 10:45); Sunday practices: beginning band practice 4:00 pm; regular band practice 5:00 pm.
Sunday, November 23–Prelude 1st Service & Meet at NPMC @ 1:30 for Rounds at the Elms & South Fork Assisted Living (Bring green & blue books), You may ride on the church bus or car pool. We’ll begin playing at the Elms at 2:00 pm; no regular practice

A New Sermon Series Begins on August 31
Beginning on Sunday August 31st, and continuing through the 2nd Sunday in Advent, December 7th, I will be preaching a series of sermon on “the Eight Essentials.”
Lots of people say, “Why have doctrine anyway? Why don’t we just go by the Bible?” That is well and good, but who will interpret the Bible for us? It is naive to think that everyone will read it alike. The Moravians of Zinzendorf’s day recognized as many as eight different ways to receive and interpret scripture, including the Reformed, Lutheran, Pietists, Pentecostal, Anglican, etc. They had the wisdom to see that devout Christians who agreed on the authority of scripture could still disagree on the interpretation of scripture. They were so guided by the principle of tolerance that they even designated different bishops to serve different constituencies.
