Pray Every Day November 2023

 

1.       Turn oh Lord and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love. Pray for the conflicts in Ukraine and Israel.

2.       Keep me safe O God, for in you I take refuge. Pray for the Raipur Foster Child Project.

3.       Hear O Lord, my righteous plea; listen to my cry. Give ear to my prayer. Pray for Phil and Eunice Raiford in Mexico.

4.       The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock in whom I take refuge. Pray for reconciliation for Moravians in Nicaragua.

5.       You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. Pray for the Blessings Flow water project in Honduras.

6.       The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Pray for PEC members, bishops, and other church leaders.

7.       May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Pray for Adopt-a-Village in Tanzania.

8.       In you our fathers put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them. Pray for Moravians in Cuba and the Armando Rusindo Foundation.

9.       You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Pray for the Sineaths in Campus Outreach.

10.   To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul; in you I trust, O my God. Pray for the Clinica Evangelica Morava in Ahuas.

11.   Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob. Pray for the Unity Women’s Desk.

12.   The Lord is my light and my salvation, who shall I fear? Pray for Moravians in Peru.

13.   Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Pray for the Hoffmans in HIV/AIDS ministry.

14.   Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. Pray for seminarians and candidates for ordination.

15.   O Lord my God, I called to you for help and you healed me. Pray for Joey Yokeley with Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

16.   You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Pray for Safiatu Braima and Sierra Leonne.

17.   Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. Pray for Kevin and Charity in the Middle East.

18.   We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. Pray for Ukrainian refugees and the churches in the Czech Republic.

19.   May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you. Pray for the Harrisons with Greek Intervarsity.

20.   Your love, O Lord, reaches to the Heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. Pray for Anna Faircloth with YoungLife.

21.   The days of the blameless are known to the Lord, and their inheritance will endure forever. In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. Pray for Brian and Heather Marx with Mission Aviation Fellowship.

22.   O Lord, do not forsake me; be not far from me, O my God. Come quickly to help me, O Lord my Savior. Pray for new and emerging ministries of the Moravian Church.

23.   I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. Pray for Alan and DeeDee Iobst in France.

24.   Be pleased, O Lord, to save me; O Lord, come quickly to help me. Pray for Charlie and Vicki Brent in Texas.

25.   As the deer pants for the streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. Pray for Annie B Missions and Star Mountain.

26.   Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Pray for the Teshes in Kenya and Ray of Hope.

27.   All this happened to us, though we had not forgotten you or been false to your covenant. Our hearts had not turned back; our feet had not strayed from your path. Pray for the Board of World Mission.

28.   Rise up and help us; redeem us because of your unfailing love. Pray for Michael and Brenda Brent in Croatia.

29.   Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth! Pray for Estamos Unidos Moravian Ministry.

30.   Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love. Like your name, O God, your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Pray for disaster relief workers and Moravian Disaster Response.

ARTICLE V. AMENDMENTS

(As is)

Any amendment to the Rules and Regulations must be made in writing and submitted to the church pastor at least two weeks prior to the Congregational Council meeting.

Amendments must pass by a two-thirds majority of all votes cast. Amendments must be published to the congregation.

No proposed Amendments shall conflict with the Book of Order of the Moravian Church, or by any legislation adopted by Provincial Synod or the Southern Province of the Moravian Church in America.

 

ARTICLE V. AMENDMENTS

Any proposed amendment to the Rules and Regulations must be made in writing and submitted to the church pastor church’s pastor or acting / interim pastor. Such amendment shall be presented in its final form as it is to be presented to the congregation. Such amendment shall be submitted at least two weeks prior to the Congregational Council meeting.

Amendments must be published to the congregation by, including, but not limited to, the following methods:

  • The proposed amendment(s) shall be announced on no less than two separate occasions of public worship,
  • The proposed amendment(s) shall be published in the church’s newsletter,
  • The proposed amendment(s) shall be published on the church’s website, and
  • The proposed amendment(s) shall be published no less than on two separate occasions via email and / or other electronic means to all church members on the church’s email distribution list.

ARTICLE IV. EXECUTIVE BOARDS

Section 1. General:

  1. The Congregational Council of New Philadelphia Moravian Church shall elect two executive boards, the Board of Elders and the Board of Trustees, which are charged with the management of the affairs of the congregation.
    1. The Board of Trustees shall consist of twelve Communicant Members and a Youth Representative under the age of 18 appointed by the Board of Trustees from the Middle or Senior High
    2. The Board of Elders shall consist of eleven Communicant Members, all pastors serving under call, and a Youth Representative under the age of 18 appointed by the Board of Elders from the Middle or Senior High Youth. All pastors have voice and
    3. No member shall be nominated, elected, or appointed to the office of Elder or Trustee if a member of his or her immediate family (husband, wife, son, daughter, mother, father, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law) is serving or is nominated as a member of the Elders or
  1. Lay members shall serve for three years.

  3. The Board of Elders shall consist of eleven Communicant Members, all pastors serving under call, and at the discretion of the Board of Elders, a Communicant Youth Representative under the age of 18 can be appointed by the Board of Elders from the Senior High Youth. All pastors have voice and vote.
  4. No member shall be nominated, elected, or appointed to the office of serve on the board of Elders or Trustees if a member of his or her family (husband, wife, son, daughter, mother, father, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law) is serving or is nominated as a member of the Elders or A Youth Representative has limited voting powers as defined below. Because of these limitations, an individual may serve as a Youth Representative regardless of whether a family member is serving or is nominated as a member of the Elders or Trustees.

C. Lay members shall serve for three years. Youth representatives shall serve for one year unless reappointed.

Rules and Regulations of New Philadelphia Moravian Church Amendment

For congregational Council on Sunday October 22, 2023

Article IV, Section 4. Joint Board:

The Joint Board shall establish a Preschool Committee, which shall be responsible for the oversight/management of the Preschool.

  1. The Preschool Committee shall consist of seven members, two appointed from the Board of Elders, two appointed from the Board of Trustees, two communicant members from the congregation at large appointed by the pastor, and the director of the preschool. The members appointed by the Board of Elders and Board of Trustees should serve two year term limits. Communicant members at large should serve for a maximum of three consecutive years.  Any member who served on the Preschool Committee may be reappointed after 2 years.
  2. The Preschool Committee shall elect a chairperson. The Preschool Director is not eligible to serve as the Chairperson. The committee is required to meet every two months (September, November, January, March, May or as frequently as needed) and submit meeting minutes and financial reports to the Board of Elders and the Board of Trustees after each meeting.
  3. The Preschool director reports to the Preschool Committee
  4. Hiring or dismissing Preschool teachers is the responsibility of the Preschool director
  5. Recommendations for hiring or dismissing the director, is the responsibility of the Preschool Committee in consultation with the Staff Resource Committee and Joint Boards. The ultimate responsibility rest with the Joint Boards. 
  6. The Preschool Committee must conduct an annual financial audit as defined by the Preschool Committee and report such findings to the Board of Trustees.
  7. The Preschool director shall attend staff meetings at the request of the head of staff.
