We have received the following communication from Br. Mark Ebert of Moravian Disaster Response re the recent flooding in Georgia.
To my dear sisters and brothers, if you have not heard by now, Northwest Georgia has been the scene for heavy flooding that has resulted in at least 9 deaths and with a number of people still missing. Let us begin by continuing to pray for the families of those who lost their lives and for the safe return of those missing! We also need to pray for those already on the scene in the rescue and recovery of the victims of this flooding!
As Moravians, MDR will partner again with Samaritans Purse who have already set up there command post outside Atlanta and will house and feed as many volunteers as they can.
Volunteers are needed now to begin with the clean up of houses and debris removal with skilled and semi-skilled volunteers needed in the future to start the rebuilding of these homes.
If you or your Church feel God calling you to respond to this disaster by volunteering or giving, please contact Mark Ebert at 336-225-3540 / mebert@mcsp.org or simply by contacting Samaritans Purse at spvolunteernetwork.org or giving.samaritanspurse.org.
IF YOU CONTACT SP DIRECTLY, PLEASE CONTACT ME ALSO SO I WILL KNOW YOU ARE GOING!
As in the past, let us not grow weary of doing good , by showing up to help we bring hope to those that my have lost all of theirs! Let us to continue to be the hands and feet of our Lord, in Who’s name I pray, AMEN!
Your brother and partner in this thing called love,
Mark Ebert
