The Rev. Dr. Worth Green, Pastor
Worth Green was ordained in 1977 and is now into his 21st year as Pastor of New Philadelphia. A graduate of Chapel Hill, a former Marine Officer, and a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary, he holds the Th.M. New Testament from Princeton Theological Seminary, and the Doctor of Ministry in Parish Revitalization from McCormick Theological Seminary. He is married to Elayne Durham Green, and has two adult children, Jonathan Green and Edyth Beery, one granddaughter, Madison Green, and two grandsons, Worth Harrison Green and Silas Richard Beery. He thanks himself blessed that his children married well, and loves his daughter-in-law Lindsay Gainey Green and his son-in-law Jason Beery. His favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” An equally important verse is 2nd Corinthians 5:17, “If anyone is in Christ (s)he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold the new has come!”

The Rev. Dr. David A. Marcus, Jr., Associate Pastor
The Rev. Dr. David Allen Marcus, Jr. was ordained on June 23, 1996. He has served pastorates in Spartanburg, SC (Palmetto Fellowship), Wilmington, NC (Covenant Moravian) and has been Associate Pastor at New Philadelphia since October, 2000. He is a 1991 graduate of UNC-Charlotte (BA, History) and a 1996 graduate of Moravian Theological Seminary (MDIV). For eight years David served on the Provincial Board of Evangelism and Homeland Missions. He is now serving on the Provincial Stewardship Commission. David recently graduated from McCormick Theological Seminary with a Doctor of Ministry degree. He is married to Lee who is a social worker in town. They have one son, David Allen Marcus, III.

The Rev. John G. Rights, Associate Pastor
The Rev. John G. Rights attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1992. Immediately following college, John pursued a call to ministry and attended Moravian Theological Seminary, graduating with a Master of Divinity in 1995. From August 1995 through September 1996, John served as intern pastor of Home Moravian Church in Winston-Salem. Upon ordination on October 6, 1996, John served as interim pastor of Fries Memorial Moravian Church until March, 1997, and as pastor of Mizpah Moravian Church in Rural Hall from April, 1997, until January, 2001. He served as associate pastor of Trinity Moravian Church from February, 2001, until November of 2003. Working with youth at Laurel Ridge, throughout the Southern Province, and in other countries has been a highlight of John’s ministry. John’s wife, Brandi is an elementary school teacher here in town.

Mrs. Paula Midkiff, Director of Christian Education
A graduate from Virginia Tech with a degree in Marketing Management, Paula is the director of Christian Education at New Philadelphia. Her responsibilities include the Christian Education for all children through 5th grade and also for all adult classes. She also coordinates Children’s Church and our New Phillies youth group. Paula is married to Craig Midkiff and has two children, Patrick and Leigh Anne.

Mr. Randy Fulton, Part-Time Director of Junior High Youth
A member of the New Philadelphia staff for more than ten years. Randy is extremely gifted with junior and senior high youth. He is part-time.

Mrs. Jerrie Andrews, Director of the Preschool
Jerrie graduated from the University of South Carolina. She has served as the Assistant PreSchool Director at NPMC, and as the PreSchool Director of Kingswood United Methodist Church in Rural Hall. She is married to Tony Andrews and has three children, Nick, Ellie, and Alex.

Ms. Heather Cheek, Asst. Director of the Preschool
Heather is a life long member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church. She has served as Chairperson of the New Philadelphia Preschool committee in past years. She has also been very active in our Christian Education program. Heather has two children, a son Addison and a daughter, Caroline.

Mrs. Josephine Bolling, Church Secretary
A current member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Winston-Salem, Josephine has been Church Secretary at New Philadelphia since July of 1998. She retired from Federal Government employment in early 1997, having served with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Probation Office as a Clerical Supervisor. She is married to Sanders Bolling who is a retired design engineer.

Mrs. Donna Wright, Business Adminstrator
Donna Wright graduated from Appalachian State University with a BSBA in Marketing and Management. Her experience before working for New Philadelphia was nine years in financial accounting and office management. In December 1992, she began working as the financial administrator and later in the spring of 1994 became the Business Manager. Her responsibilities include the payment of all bills, posting the contributions, and supervision of the cleaning service. Donna is married to Hunter who works for Lorillard Tobacco in Greensboro.

Mr. Jerry Bumgardner, Facilities Manager
A life long member of New Philadelphia, Jerry is responsible for the management of the New Philadelphia facilities. He is married to Faye Bumgardner and enjoys fishing and woodworking in his spare time.

Steve Gray, Director of Music
Mr. Steve Gray is our Director of Music. Steve directs the Chancel Choir at the 9:00 a.m. service, and the Beracah Choir at the 11:10 a.m. service. He is responsible for the coordination of all musical activity at New Philadelphia . A graduate of Davidson College with a degree in music, Steve is a life-long Moravian with experience both in the United States and in Central America.

Ms. Sandra Gray, Director of Youth and Children’s Choirs
(Organist for 11:10 a.m. Service)
Music has always been a vital part of Sandra’s life. Her love of music was encouraged as well as influenced by a multicultural upbringing as the daughter of missionaries in Central America and Africa. As director of the children’s choirs and now organist for our 11:10 AM service, she enjoys sharing her love and faith in Jesus with others through music.

Ms. Marie Hines, Director of the Band
Marie is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, and teaches band at Wiley Middle School. She has been at New Philadelphia for 3 years, and has been instrumental in building a band with a more balanced sound.

Mrs. Mary Hege, Organist
(9:00 a.m. Service)
Mary is the organist for our 9:00 worship service. She has been a member of New Philadelphia since the 1950’s and has been playing the organ since 1957. She has studied with a variety of local music teachers. Mary is married to Joe Hege and has two children and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Donna Cartner, Handbells Director
Donna is a graduate of Wake Forest University with a BA in Music and a Minor in Religious Education. Donna has three grown children, Karen, Mark and Linda along with two grandsons, Sam and Drew. She has served in the Methodist Church as a Certified Director for many years. This in fact is her first position serving outside the Methodist Church. Donna has been connected to the Moravian Church for many years however. Her sister-in-law is Cindi Jones, a member of New Philadelphia.

Ms. Anita Cirba, Guest Trumpeter
Anita plays for 9:00 and 11:10 a.m. worship twice monthly and is featured at a number of special services throughout the year, including the Christmas Lovefeast. She is the principal trumpet of the Winston-Salem Symphony.
