Welcome Daniel Godfrey!
New Philadephia Moravian Church is excited to announce the hiring of Daniel Godfrey as our Director of Youth Ministries. Daniel is working on his Master’s Degree from the Wake Forest School of Divinity with a focus on Youth Ministry. He is a graduate of Mars Hill University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion, and a Minor in History.
Daniel will oversee our Youth Ministry programs at New Philadelphia, with a specific focus on leading our Senior High Youth Program and working with Erin Key to continue building our strong Middle High Youth Program.
“Daniel knows how to help our church reach the younger generations. I am looking forward to having him bring this awareness and knowledge to our youth ministry at New Philadelphia. I see Daniel as being the leader to build on our strong foundation of Youth Ministry at New Philadelphia, and make our church the ‘place to be’ for young people in Winston-Salem”, says Associate Pastor, Joe Moore.
Daniel grew up on a rural farm in Monroe, NC. His parents brought God’s love and guidance into their home at a young age through adopting two of his siblings from Liberia in West Africa, inviting foreign exchange students into their home, and providing their farm for community gardening. Daniel accepted Jesus as his savior when he was six years old, and promptly informed his Pastor that he was going to be a Pastor like him someday.
Daniel officially begins his ministry with New Philadelphia on June 10th. He says that “youth ministry is the lifeblood of the church. You can measure the energy of a church by the presence of young people in the community of the church. Youth ministry is the crucial work of empowering, loving, and supporting youth, which leads to a thriving church community.”
Please join us in welcoming Daniel and his wife Lily to New Philadelphia. Lily is a third grade teacher in Guilford County, and they will be moving to Clemmons in June.
