Breathe:  Making Room for the Sabbath

Women’s Bible Study

With a jam-packed life, what’s missing is space—space for God to speak, room for you to hear.  It’s time to set aside the activities and busyness that swallows up rest and peace.  Come discover Sabbath margin—the boundary God enables us to put around things we enjoy so that we never become slaves again.

Join in 5 weeks of study on Monday mornings or Thursday evenings in the Banquet Room.

  • Morning Option begins Monday, February 8th at 10:30am
  • Evening Option begins Thursday, February 11th at 6:30pm

For questions or to sign up, please contact Christy Clore at christy@newphilly.org or 765-2331; or Grace Shutt, who will be leading the studies, at gvshutt@gmail.com or 765-4506.

Namesake: A Bible Study for Women
Tuesday Evenings from 7 – 8 PM
September 10, 17, 24 and October 8 in the Church Library
Study Guides are available in the church office for participants!

Namesake will be a 7-week Bible Study that explores how God often changed people’s names when God’s interaction in their lives changed them. We will think about transformation – the transformation God works in an individual’s life – and revelation – how God reveals Himself in Scripture. Each session has it’s own focus, you can miss a session and still feel a part of what is happening. 7 Biblical characters are featured: Abraham & Sarah, Jacob, Naomi, Daniel, Peter, and the woman caught in adultery.

If you wish to participate, please just contact Christy or call the Church Office and express your interest so we know how many folks for the study guides in this series.

Daniel: A Look at Prophesy
Tuesdays, September 17, 24, October 1, 8
9:30 – 10:30, Church Library

A four-part study aimed at how we can make this scripture personal, looking at the history behind the story. We’ll explore what were Jewish practices of the time; the Babylon of Daniel’s time; the community life in colonial Salem and our present time; and what all those signs and predictions mean! If interested in attending, contact the church office or Christy. Don’t worry if you can’t attend all sessions; each stands on its own.

Gemeinschaft 3
Monday evenings beginning in mid-September
5:30, Church Library

This class offers a wonderful way to create a personal statement of faith through a look at the creeds of the Christian Church, Moravian Covenant for Christian Living, Ground of the Unity and Jesus’ life as described in the Gospels. We explore as a small group but also consider our own personal reflections on these documents, becoming closer to God through journaling our experiences. Please consider participation in this group if you have completed Gemeinschaft 2 at some point and would like to continue the journey. Contact Christy or the church office to connect with this group.
