The PEC has released the two healthy characteristics we, as a Church, will place emphasis on for 2013. Please take the time to read the attached document (Moving Forward Together 2013). The BCM (Board of Cooperative Ministries) will work hard to support you as RCC (Regional Conference of Churches) and congregation members in your efforts to make these characteristics a priority.

It is with great pleasure we introduce Br. David Teague as our new Band Director for the New Philadelphia Moravian Church Band. David and his wife, Renee, have recently relocated to Winston-Salem upon David’s retirement from Waynesville public schools as a middle high school band teacher.

David is a native of Forsyth County and began his band experience at Friedland Moravian Church under his grandfather who served as band director. David played and arranged music while at East Forsyth High School and earned his B.S. Education Music degree from Western Carolina University in 1973. David taught music education for band, chorus, piano, and guitar at Tabor City High School, Cherokee Indian Reservation School, and Waynesville Middle School.

During the interview process David shared his vision for his new position at New Philadelphia:

“Having worked in education all my life I would look forward to having a chance to continue working with young players in their musical formation and technique and ultimately bring them into the New Philadelphia Moravian Band. My love of instrumental music began by playing the simple, yet profoundly moving chorales. While growing up I attended Friedland Moravian where my grandfather was Band Director. I would seek to work with youngsters to instill a love of the Moravian chorales and to include them in regular worship service as well as special services and events. I have also worked very closely with my church choir directors to add instruments when deemed appropriate, and created arrangement of existing anthems to have additional instrumental accompaniment.”

We welcome David and Renee and look forward not only to David’s leadership, but to sharing our life together with them.  Welcome David and Renee!
